Best Ways to Drink Jameson
For all its popularity, it is almost certain that a whiskey brand will be served at your next social event. Except you are planning to be absent from all social events, you will most likely encounter Jameson’s whiskey very frequently. We do not feel that it will be cool that what will stop you from enjoying this favorite whiskey is your little or no knowledge about how to drink it best.
This article highlights some of the ways to drink the various brands of Jameson whiskey. We acknowledge that all the brands are good; however, for the best experience with each, it is essential to take note of the details on how to take each. And here they are:
Jameson Irish Whiskey – is light, tasty, sweet, smooth, and easy to drink and is great for shots. Besides being the best for shots, it is also best for mixed drinks and cocktails. Mixers such as Coca-Cola (1 part Jameson: 2-part Coca-Cola), ginger ale (1:2), lemonade (1: 2.5), and Guinness (shot of Jameson, glass of Guinness) are common mixes.
Jameson Black Barrel – is best taken in shots, mixed drinks, and cocktails. Some also drink it neat thanks to the additional flavor it has compared to the former. Old Fashioned, Fancy-Free, and Whiskey Sour are some popular whiskey cocktail combinations that taste great with Jameson Black Barrel.
Jameson 18 Years – take this brand neat, and you are good to go. Sipping it neat gives a pleasurable feeling and taste of the well-integrated flavors. Sold for about $150, it is way more expensive than the standard expression; thus, no sane person would dare drink it in shots or a cocktail.
Jameson Bow Street 18 Years – similar to the Jameson 18-year brand for which it is a cask strength version and sold for $180, it is best taken neat, and some will also take it with water due to the 50% alcohol by volume content it has.
Jameson Caskmates Stout Edition – those who like stout beer with a light, fruity, and grassy flavor would instead take this brand with varieties of flavor neat. Another set of drinkers will prefer it taken in a cocktail since it is relatively cheap and sold for just $35. Some cocktail combinations are Caskmates Stout, soda and orange, and Caskmates Stout float.
Jameson Caskmates IPA Edition – shares many similarities with the former; however, the Irish Pale Ale (IPA) has a citrus and hoppy bitterness profile. It can be taken either neat or in a cocktail. Jameson created two cocktails, especially for this whiskey brand, they are:
- The Jameson IPA Shandy (containing 1.5 parts of Jameson IPA, 3 parts of lemonade, ice cubes, 1 squeezed lemon wedge, 1 part of club soda, and lemon twist)
- Spring Chick (mix 1.5 parts Jameson Caskmates IPA with 2 dashes of Angostura, 0.75 parts lemon juice, and 0.5 parts ginger syrup).
Jameson Distiller’s Safe – even though it has the same level of complexity as the standard Jameson, the best way to drink this brand is neat. That is the only way to enjoy the flavor of the pot still and grains distillate that highlights this unique brand. Some take it as shots and in cocktails, but that is rare.
Jameson Cooper’s Croze – this whiskey was also explicitly designed to highlight the flavor of wood; it has a natural purpose that would be defeated if taken as a cocktail or shot. It is, therefore, best taken neat or with water because it is a bit ethanol-hot.
Jameson Blender’s Dog Neat – is very deep and more complex than most Jameson types. Its essence is best felt when taken neat.
