How Old Is Glenfiddich Special Reserve?
Glenfiddich was founded in Dufftown, Moray of Scotland, in 1886 by William Grant, who built the distillery by hand, with the help of his seven sons and two daughters. Grant named the distillery “Glenfiddich,” Gaelic for “Valley of the Deer”.
Glenfiddich was one of the first brands to be marketed as a single malt and is one of the few single malt distilleries to remain entirely family-owned. Today, Glenfiddich is the world’s biggest-selling and most awarded single malt, sold in approximately 180 different countries around the world!
Renowned as a big name in the international whisky market and loved by Nigeria’s whisky connoisseurs, Glenfiddich comprises a wide range of premium whiskies. Some of them include the 8 Year Old, 12 Year Old, 15 Year Old, 18 Year Old, 21 Year Old, 26 Year Old, 30 Year Old, 50 Year Old, and the Grand Cru.
Winner of Gold medals at the 2007 International Wine and Spirit Competition and 2016 International Spirits Challenge (ISC), the Glenfiddich Special Reserve 12 is also known as the Glenfiddich 12 Year Old Special Reserve. The youngest in Glenfiddich’s range, Glenfiddich 12 is a Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky matured in the finest American oak and European oak sherry casks for at least 12 years, and then mellowed in oak marrying tuns. Bottled at 40% ABV, Glenfiddich 12 is a well-balanced, complex, and stylish single malt whisky with sweet and subtle oak flavours.
