How To Drink Glenfiddich

Glenfiddich was founded in Dufftown, Scotland, in 1886 by William Grant, who built the distillery by hand, with the help of his nine children. Grant named the distillery “Glenfiddich,” Gaelic for “Valley of the Deer”. Glenfiddich was one of the first brands to be sold as a single malt. Today, Glenfiddich is the world’s biggest-selling and most awarded single malt, sold in about 180 different countries around the world!

Recognized and loved by whisky connoisseurs around the world, Glenfiddich comprises a wide range of premium whiskies. Some of them include the youngest 8 Year Old, 12 Year Old, 15 Year Old, 19 Year Old, 21 Year Old, 26 Year Old, 30 Year Old, 50 Year Old, and the Grand Cru.

Now that you’ve bought a bottle of Glenfiddich Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky, you’re probably wondering how best to drink it. If you want to truly enjoy the flavours of your Glenfiddich single malt, let’s teach you.

How You Should Drink Glenfiddich Single Malt Scotch Whisky?

While many liquors are best served chilled, Glenfiddich, like every other Scotch is best served at room temperature. To get the best out of your single malt’s flavour and aroma, don’t refrigerate it! You may even wrap your hand around the whisky glass for some minutes before you drink, allowing the flavours to volatilize further.

In addition to adding a splash of soft, still spring water to your single malt, other ways to enjoy your Glenfiddich’s rich oaky flavours and sweet taste (although some kick against these) are: on the rocks, with club soda, and with ginger ale.

Further, while many whisky drinkers prefer to drink their favourite dram from a standard whisky tumbler, other Scotch aficionados swear a tulip-shaped glass is the better receptacle. This glass, according to them, allows them to swirl the whisky around without spilling it and helps to unleash the whisky’s true flavours.

Once you have served your whisky in an appropriate glass at room temperature, you can hold your glass up to the light to check the whisky’s colour. Checking the colour will help you determine how the drink was aged.

Finally, to taste your Glenfiddich at first sip, form a small spoon shape with your tongue, then take a sip from your glass. Let it rest on your tongue for a little while before you swallow.

Now, that’s how to enjoy the most decorated single malt whisky in the world!
