Which Jameson Whiskey is the Best

The producer of Jameson whiskey prides all their products almost equally. Each one of their brands has this superlative descriptor from the makers. However, there is a recurring question among drinkers and fans of this Irish whiskey – what Jameson is the best?

Jameson Irish - is very affordable and arguably the most popular of their products. It costs only ₦10,650 for a 750ml bottle. It's Jameson’s most iconic product. As it is popularly called, the traditional Jameson is very drinkable, sweet, and mellow, with citrus, apple, and fudge flavors and notes of vanilla and honey.

Jameson Black Barrel – is a more premium product. It is a blended whiskey like the traditional Jameson, but with a more significant concentration of SPS (single pot still) and is twice-charred. Purists favor this more than the ‘easy-to-drink’ traditional Jameson. It is a little more expensive - ₦17,770  for 750ml but not readily available in all bars.

Jameson Caskmates (IPA and Stout) – came from a capitalist move involving collaboration with Irish craft beer brewer Shane Long. The partnership initially used a stout – the Irish version, and subsequently, they added another variety - the IPA. A 750ml bottle is sold for between ₦10,000 and ₦15,000. They are not as ubiquitous as the flagship Jameson, but they are readily available in bars.

Jameson 12 and 18-Year Reserves, Gold Reserve, and Rarest Vintage Reserve – the aged reserves product of Jameson are the mature flavors for the committed and flamboyant drinkers. The 12 and 18-Year-Old Limited Reserves offer older and more refined tastes for those who can discern them. The aged range products are not as readily available as the standard Jameson for obvious reasons; the 12 Year Reserve costs between ₦18,000 and ₦24,000, the Gold Reserve goes for between ₦35,000 and ₦50,000, and the 18 Year Limited Reserve costs $140 or more. The rarest Vintage Reserve goes between ₦160,000 and ₦210,000 or more – by the way, it is very hard to find.

What Jameson Whiskey is the best? The choice is always the buyers, depending on what they want in their Jameson. However, popularly, the Jameson Irish whiskey gets the nod for the best of them all.
