What Are The Different Types Of Jameson

An iconic Irish whiskey that prides itself as one of the leaders in the whiskey industry, Jameson is acclaimed to be the best-selling Irish Whiskey globally. With the uniformity in production - triple distillation, seasoned oak barrels aging, the Jameson whiskey still comes in different types.

Do you want to know why? Follow on in this short article.

Even though all Jameson types have a familiar blend of taste, some other things still differentiate them somehow. These are the brewing texture, punch, aroma, and body, to mention a few.

These minute factors, which do not reduce the quality of any of the types of Jameson, can be attributed to minor tweaks in the malting, fermentation, and, most commonly, the distillation process.

There are at least twelve varieties of Jameson in the Whiskey market today. They are:

  • Jameson Original. The best-selling Irish Whiskey the world over. Even though it maintains the 'original' title, it has been tweaked over the years.it has an ABV of 40 % and is bottled in a 700ml glass.
  • Jameson The Blender's Dog. A limited-edition variety with an NFC chip on the neck to customize labels.
  • Jameson The Cooper's Croze. One of the early releases from Jameson, it has five generations of influence under its belt. It celebrates the craft of Head Cooper, Ger Buckley, honoring his mastery at maintaining the treasured casks at the Middleton distillery.
  • Jameson Gold Reserve. Distilled with the use of virgin American oak for maturation.
  • Jameson Signature Reserve. This Jameson is exclusive to travel retail and duty-free shops worldwide.
  • Jameson Rarest Vintage Reserve. It contains Jameson's rarest and oldest whiskey components.
  • Jameson Select Reserve Black Barrel. The heavy version of the Jameson whiskey brand is a unique pot-still whiskey with a much richer flavor than the regular Jameson, thanks to the mix's abundance of first-fill bourbon and sherry casks.
  • Jameson 12-Year-Old Distillery Reserve. Available at their two visitor centers in Ireland and online shops.
  • Jameson 12-Year-Old Special Reserve. Formerly known as Jameson 1780, it was renamed in 2002 to reflect the 12 years of maturing in bourbon. It has complex flavors of toasted wood, spice, and sherry.
  • Jameson 18-Year-Old Limited Reserve. It is one of the oldest and most widely sold Irish Whiskey. It has an alcohol strength of 40%, like most Irish Whiskey; it comes with a delightful blend of single grain whiskey and pot-still whiskeys.
  • Jameson Caskmates IPA Edition. In full - Irish Pale Ale, a variety created for craft beer lovers and curious whiskey enjoyers. It marries the smooth Irish Whiskey and crisp hoppy notes.
  • Jameson Caskmates. Finished in stout-seasoned barrels.
